Scurry Released Booking Photos
A mugshot is the identifying photograph created during booking. It documents an arrest-stage event, not guilt and not the final outcome of a case. Release does not itself erase the image. The photo may remain in a sheriff booking file, an arresting agency report, a TDCJ correctional record, a court exhibit, or a dated news report. Whether a copy must be disclosed depends on the record, case status, and applicable Texas exceptions.
Scurry County’s official jail page offers no current roster, recent-release list, photo grid, archive, or published photo-retention period. A person’s absence therefore says nothing about whether a photograph exists. It also does not prove release. Ask for the image tied to a known booking number and date, then verify release through the separate custody record.
Scurry Mugshot Source Channels
No single channel covers every person. County arrest photos and state-prison identification photos belong to different systems.
| Channel | Photo status | Access path |
|---|---|---|
| Scurry County Jail | No public online photo grid | Request the booking photograph by name, booking number, and date. |
| Snyder Police Department | May hold arrest-report material | Request the police record for a Snyder arrest; confirm custody through the jail. |
| Sheriff app or social feed | None established | Do not label generic county apps as official. |
| TDCJ | Basic email lookup does not provide photos | Use a formal TDCJ Public Information Act request for a public CID photograph. |
| Texas VINELink | Notification tool, not a county photo archive | Use it for an agency-fed custody event and confirm with the custodian. |
| News or agency posts | May preserve an older arrest image | Trace the image to the agency or case and check current status. |
Third-party Scurry-themed jail pages surfaced in research, but none was linked from the county’s official jail page. Their images are leads only. Do not rely on them for the exact release date, present custody, case outcome, or county publication policy.
Request a Scurry Booking Photo
Use a narrow Texas Public Information Act request to the sheriff. A focused request is easier to identify and separates the public photograph from confidential material:
- Identify the person by full booked name and birth date. Add the local booking number and booking date whenever known.
- Ask specifically for the booking photograph from that custody episode. Also request the booking sheet and release entry if identity or release must be verified.
- Give a narrow date range and request electronic copies.
- Ask for segregable public information with confidential fields redacted.
- Request a cost estimate and set a cost ceiling before chargeable work.
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 does not make every photo automatically available. Law-enforcement, privacy, juvenile, victim, security, and other legal exceptions can apply. Attorney General Open Records Decision 616 required release of a mugshot tied to a conviction where no active investigation justified withholding, while later rulings have allowed withholding in active-investigation settings. The sound claim is that booking photos are often requestable, not guaranteed in every case.
Snyder Police Photo Records
Snyder Police may hold the arrest report while the Scurry County Jail holds the custody and booking record. The official Snyder Police Department page provides city police contact information and directs custody searching to VINE.

The agency split matters. Request a Snyder arrest report or agency-created image from police, but ask the jail to confirm whether the person was booked, released, or transferred. Snyder police materials do not establish a separate long-term municipal jail roster. For a fine-only city matter, Snyder Municipal Court may hold the disposition. Other cases may belong in justice, county, or district court.
Scurry Has No Mugshot App
No sheriff-branded app or official social release-photo feed is linked from the reviewed Scurry sheriff and jail pages. Texas VINELink is mobile-friendly, but it is a statewide notification platform rather than a local mugshot gallery. Generic app-store products or similarly named jail domains should not be presented as official without a link from the county or direct sheriff confirmation.
This distinction prevents a common identity error. An unofficial page may reuse an old arrest photo long after custody and case status changed. Search the exact person in the correct agency system, compare lawful identifiers, and locate the primary booking or arrest record. For recent exits, the 24-Hour Releases workflow explains how to confirm the custody event without treating a photo page as a release feed.
TDCJ Photos Need Formal Requests
A Scurry County booking photo is not the same as a TDCJ Correctional Institutions Division photograph. Price Daniel Unit is a state prison located near Snyder, and its prisoners belong to the statewide TDCJ system. The basic offender-information email channel can provide status, location, dates, offense, sentence, conviction county, and incarceration history within its stated scope, but it does not provide photos.
The TDCJ Public Information Act route is the proper channel for a public CID photograph and associated release data.

Include the full name and seven-digit TDCJ number. If the number is unknown, add birth date or age and conviction county. Ask for the CID photograph, incarceration history, and release or discharge date and type. A move away from Daniel Unit may be a transfer to another prison. Confirm statewide status before describing anyone as released.
Scurry Expunction Record Map
Scurry County publishes an unusually useful expunction agency-notification list. It maps places where an arrest trail may persist: police, sheriff, clerks, prosecutors, probation, municipal court, and justice courts. That map explains why release alone does not remove a booking photo or related entry. Different custodians may hold different copies.
Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A governs expunction, while Government Code Chapter 411 addresses orders of nondisclosure. The remedies differ in eligibility and effect. A favorable case outcome does not automatically erase an arrest image. When an expunction or nondisclosure order exists, use its terms and service history to contact each affected custodian. Do not infer that every record is gone merely because one portal no longer returns it.
Texas Mugshot Correction Rules
Texas does not impose a blanket ban on all mugshot websites. Business & Commerce Code Chapter 109 targets defined criminal-record publishers and certain paid removal or correction practices. The official Chapter 109 text supplies the governing definitions and duties.

Within its statutory scope, the chapter reaches certain businesses that demand at least $150 or comparable value to remove information, or demand value to correct or modify it. Covered publishers must offer a dispute method, verify a dispute without charge, investigate within 45 business days, correct or remove inaccurate information without a fee, and notify the subject after the investigation. It also restricts knowing continued publication after notice of an expunction or nondisclosure order. The law contains exclusions, so it should be described as a targeted accuracy and dispute regime, not a universal takedown right.
Verify Scurry Photo Identity
A photograph can be persuasive and still be matched to the wrong event. Start with the local booking number, TDCJ number, SID, or court cause number. Then compare the name, birth date or age, booking date, arresting agency, charge, and court. Never merge a photo from one source with release details from a similar-name result.
News and agency posts may preserve an image after release. They prove that an image was published on a date, not that the person remains confined or that an unresolved charge ended in conviction. Follow the source back to the arresting agency and court. For physical release, obtain the custody movement or release record. For a court outcome, obtain the signed order or judgment.
Scurry Mugshot Removal Path
First identify who controls the copy. An official sheriff, police, TDCJ, court, news, and third-party copy each has a different custodian. Send any correction or order to that custodian with the exact URL, image, person identifiers, booking or cause number, and supporting primary record. Preserve proof of delivery and the response.
If the image is factually wrong, request correction without overstating what release means. If a lawful expunction or nondisclosure order applies, provide the order through the custodian’s official process. Chapter 109 rights apply only when its definitions and conditions are met. Avoid services that demand payment merely to correct a false record. The reliable route begins with the government record and the law that applies to that specific copy.
