Choose the Correct Records Office

For a county-jail custody or release question, begin with the sheriff and jail. The researched county pages do not publish office hours for these lines, so call before visiting.

State-prison release records use TDCJ rather than the county jail. General offender information is available at 936-295-6371 or 800-535-0283, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Formal public-information requests can be sent to PIA@tdcj.texas.gov or the address below. Ask for an estimate because no single charge applies to every request.

• To locate a released person or request a county release record, use the full search path and request steps on the home page.
• For county community supervision or state parole, use Post-Release Supervision. Scurry County Adult Probation is at 2511 College Avenue, Snyder, 325-573-8524; the Abilene District Parole Office is at 5241 West Stamford Street, Abilene, 325-672-1495.
• For same-day release checks, follow the no-feed alternatives on 24-Hour Releases.
• For a state-prison date or notification, use Release Date Lookup or the VINE Inmate Check. Texas VINE’s phone line is 877-894-8463, while TDCJ Victim Services/VNS is 800-848-4284.
